Suno V6 launched on September 9, 2026. The Introducing v6 post and the matching release note put three models on Create: v6, v6-wild, and v6-mini. The v6 FAQ says every earlier generator is retired.
If you already like a mix in your library, keep working that file. The launch does not require a remake. Run one controlled v6 pair first. Remake only if that pair beats the old song at a job you can name.

What Happened to Songs You Already Made
You cannot start a new song on v5.5 or anything earlier. The files those models already made stay in the library. They stay playable and shareable. You can still remaster or cover them. Any new extend, cover, or remix runs on the v6 family. The original file is not rewritten.
Custom Models move with the launch. A v5.5 custom model is upgraded so v6 powers it from here. Songs that custom model already made stay as they are.
If a chorus you like exists only as a v5.5 take, export that mix and the stems you actually need before you spend the month's downloads on retries. The counts are in the download limits guide. Stem mode choice is in how to get stems from Suno.
Which Model You Can Open
The pricing page checked on September 11, 2026 lists the family by plan. The release note says the same gate: v6 and v6-wild are for paid users.

Suno calls v6 reliable and precise, v6-wild less predictable, and v6-mini faster. That is their copy, not a listening score. Pro is not required to hear v6-mini.
One Pass Before You Remake
Pick one older output you already trust. Keep the same lyrics and the same style tags. If those tags need to stay put, drop the Variety slider to 0. Variety rewrites style prompts to add variation. Generate one v6 pair on standard mode. Then decide from what you hear:
- Keep the old file if the new pair is only different, or if it loses something you can point to: a vowel, a drum hit, a chorus shape.
- Edit in place if the problem is one section or one line. Suno's own examples are a chorus change or a single lyric swap. That still runs on v6. Keep the old file.
- Remake on v6 if the new pair fixes a problem you can name, and you still want that lyric and style.
- Use v6-wild only if you have no keeper and want a direction you have not heard yet. Take anything useful back to v6.
When Max Mode Is Worth Extra Credits
A normal v6 run still makes two songs for 10 credits. Loading many images or videos into the prompt raises that bill. Suno does not publish a second number for those inputs, so read the credit estimate on Create before you stack references.
Max Mode costs more. The FAQ lists it for songs longer than two minutes, covers that need to stay close to the original, style transfers, and tracks that must keep vocals and style consistent from start to finish. For a short sketch, standard mode is enough. Leave Max Mode off until the cheap pair already sounds close.
